Rommate's dad's vette vs G35C /w vortech
Did a search in this subforum, found nothing.
My roommate's dad just bought an 05 vette, not the Z06, just the normal C6 (Z51 C6 I think it's called? I'm not up on that vette lingo
).
I'm very serious (and probably only 3-4 months away) from getting a Vortech installed.
He asked me how my g35c MT /w a vortech would compare to his vette stock. After looking at the whp that some of the people with vortechs are posting on the boards (388 or so), it seems that the g35c would have more whp than the vette after drivetrain loss (350 stock - guessing 12.5% drivetrain loss, which would probably be more as he has an automatic... yes, he bought an automatic vette
).
Still, HP doesn't really mean a whole lot. You can get a 18 wheeler with some massive HP, but it ain't gonna beat the vette
Just curious as to what the answer to his question is.
If there are posts about this already, just give me better search terms to use and I'll give it another go (tried, vette, corvette, boost, psi, vortech).

you can't match the torque and yes, you will lose against the C6...I have already raced one...BTW, there's no way that guy was putting down 420hp at the wheels with that G. I've yet to see any Vortech'ed G put down those type of numbers...even with the smaller pulley...

Torque 385 @ 4,800 RPM
...the new C6 has 400hp and 400ftlbs...out of the box...

I've read a lot of things saying that TT are really just for "wow" and that they do not really offer marginal added benefit over a boosted ST or SC setup. You don't really have to worry about splitting the "lag" across two turbos much anymore as most turbos have little lag as it is these days.

Uhhh.....does a Vortech'ed Z count???
I've ridden in 2 CPR tuned Vortech Z's that are putting out over 420 rwhp.

I playfully ran a new C6 on the highway....and he pulled on me every time....with my "wimpy" 395 hp.

My stock Vortech dyno [ load base..no correction to DynoJet # ] was 320whp....3.12 pulley 9.2lb's of boost..350whp.....T-Trim blower and 13.2lb's of boost...400whp . So if you want real numbers , go to a load base dyno and tell the operator NOT to add a correction for DynoJet # . My .02 cents
