Rommate's dad's vette vs G35C /w vortech

Did a search in this subforum, found nothing.

My roommate's dad just bought an 05 vette, not the Z06, just the normal C6 (Z51 C6 I think it's called? I'm not up on that vette lingo ).

I'm very serious (and probably only 3-4 months away) from getting a Vortech installed.

He asked me how my g35c MT /w a vortech would compare to his vette stock. After looking at the whp that some of the people with vortechs are posting on the boards (388 or so), it seems that the g35c would have more whp than the vette after drivetrain loss (350 stock - guessing 12.5% drivetrain loss, which would probably be more as he has an automatic... yes, he bought an automatic vette ).

Still, HP doesn't really mean a whole lot. You can get a 18 wheeler with some massive HP, but it ain't gonna beat the vette

Just curious as to what the answer to his question is.

If there are posts about this already, just give me better search terms to use and I'll give it another go (tried, vette, corvette, boost, psi, vortech).

you can't match the torque and yes, you will lose against the C6...I have already raced one...BTW, there's no way that guy was putting down 420hp at the wheels with that G. I've yet to see any Vortech'ed G put down those type of numbers...even with the smaller pulley...

build your motor and get a TT, then you'll roast him...

my suspicion is that will end up costing me 1/3-1/2 of a new G35

Also, how different is a built motor & a TT over a built motor and a SC with the boost upped? Or a built motor and a ST with boost upped? I've read a lot of things saying that TT are really just for "wow" and that they do not really offer marginal added benefit over a boosted ST or SC setup. You don't really have to worry about splitting the "lag" across two turbos much anymore as most turbos have little lag as it is these days.

not really...that was like a 2001 Z06 with around 385hp @ 6,000 RPM
Torque 385 @ 4,800 RPM
...the new C6 has 400hp and 400ftlbs...out of the box...

TT/ST = more torque...SC are not known for high torque numbers, but are good on the top end...

Uhhh.....does a Vortech'ed Z count???

I've ridden in 2 CPR tuned Vortech Z's that are putting out over 420 rwhp.

I playfully ran a new C6 on the highway....and he pulled on me every time....with my "wimpy" 395 hp.

Thats because you really dont have 395whp . When they tune and dyno , they add a correction to the output of the dyno to read more like DynoJet numbers . The problem with this is the operator gets carried awy with the correction to DynoJet # . Instead of just adding 10 to 13%...they add 15 to 20% . Ive seen post by guys with vortech's dyno and tune on a load base dyno , and said they walked in the door [ base run ] with 340whp and walk out with 425whp with just a tune ....lol...no Fcking way . People on these boards have EGO's and the Tuners have EGO's [ we all do ] but it has a way of getting us to outdo the other guy for bragging right . And if the tuners can show they made 85whp more with just a tune....they get more buisness.
My stock Vortech dyno [ load base..no correction to DynoJet # ] was 320whp....3.12 pulley 9.2lb's of boost..350whp.....T-Trim blower and 13.2lb's of boost...400whp . So if you want real numbers , go to a load base dyno and tell the operator NOT to add a correction for DynoJet # . My .02 cents
