+1! Wow!

Really good Trey! One of these day mabey you could give it a run down the strip with a MREV!

Ok...I finally got up and got my slips. Let me just hijack Trey's thread for a moment and let him half possess my mind too.

Runs for the night (was SHOCKED at how many I actually did - usually nicer to the car than this. )

14.462 @ 97.36 w/2.209 60' (took out a mustang-poor thing was just stunned and came to find out WHAT HAD I DONE TO THAT CAR! 'Bout died when I said it was stock. Sweet kid though and I admitted that it likely wouldn't happen again)

14.913 @ 96.18 w/2.258 60' (guy from mustang riding along - he felt a little better. )

14.885 @ 94.66 w/2.289 60'

14.845 @ 95.50 w/2.269 60'

14.487 @ 97.26 w/2.244 60'

14.502 @ 87.41 w/2.226 60'

14.409 @ 98.17 w/2.203 60'

14.467 @ 97.78 w/2.215 60'

14.430 @ 97.66 w/2.219 60'

14.465 @ 97.27 w/2.222 60'

14.399 @ 98.14 w/2.200 60'

14.395 @ 98.21 w/2.226 60'

14.383 @ 98.25 w/2.214 60'

14.378 @ 98.38 w/2.201 60'

14.462 @ 97.79 w/2.231 60'

14.349 @ 98.44 w/2.209 60'

14.439 @ 98.30 w/2.232 60'

This is with no prep whatsoever unless you count only putting in a half of tank of gas. I still had my crate with my work equipment in the trunk (about 30lbs) as well as the spare, etc.

Nice times Treys wife especially considering some of the "luggage" you had. Very consistent driving.

Yes, flat out amazing conditions and they are mostly responsible for your improved ET/MPH, but still, you run what you run. Period.
Now, I have gone to our calculator that Trey has bookmarked and gotten the weather from accuweather.com. Corrected for the weather at the time stamp on the slip in question is 13.95 @ 101.07. Still not a bad showing, wouldn't you agree DaveB?

IIRC his adjusted times from last trip were in the 14.2 to 14.3 range. I would say a notable improvement.

edit - track is at 582 feet elevation and the calculator used can be found at http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php

Thank you . I drove it last night just like it is when I am driving around town doing the mommy thing. All the stuff (including a kid seat and a couple toys) in the front, all the stuff in the trunk, and the FULL size spare and tools, etc. Somehow I like being able to say it wasn't a time that I got from massive prep. Shows what it can do on a normal day.

Pretty cool actually having your wife drag race.
I never thought mine would (granny driver) until we found an 1/8 mile snowmobile drag strip one day on an outing in Prince Edward Island. Our group couldn't get her to leave when we wanted to go. She drove her machine way faster than her car on the highway.

I know the conditions played a part, but I'm not willing to conceed even a "mostly responsible" for the improvement.

Last week, my personal best was a 14.09@101. This week it was a 13.791@102.22. What variables changed?

First, the conditions. Last week it was mid thirties, and roughly 65% humdity. This week it was mid to high twenties, though the humidity was greater than 90%. You have to realize that friday night T&T's are from 9:00 PM till 1:00 AM, and we didn't get started until about 11:30 last night. Being so late, temps really start to approach the dew point, hence the much higher humidity.

Last week I did no prep. I did run at ~31psi in the rears, but had a full tank of gas and everything still in the trunk. Also, I because of the knock I described last week, I think I might have gotten a bad tank of gas. This week, I had a 1/4 tank from a different station, and *nothing* in the trunk. Tires were unchanged.

Those are the changes. A temp of difference of 8-10 degrees, with higher humidity did positively affect my times, but those effects are a very small portion of the 3 tenths and 1mph that I gained.

Last week, I had two 2.1's. This week I had plenty more. Also, last week I hit that 14.09 just once. This week I hit that 13.79 just once, but I did hit something like 5 13.8's.

Also, I would have figured that the colder temps would have been more of a tradeoff than anything else. Sure, it might have helped my runs, but hurt my launches. I'm still on street tires. Last night, I got 2.1 after 2.1 after 2.1. I was just *on* last night. Also, remember that those atmo correction factors are for ET's and traps; there is no way they can take into account how conditions affect launches.

The bottom line is I had a killer night. On the other hand, if I ran again in the summer, with alabama heat and humidity, I doubt I could even break into the 13's again.

Now, I have to ask a general question; I just hope it doesn't come across as arrogant. Other than IMSSOLUTIONS, and zximan, what other g drivers on this board have run 13.7's or better, NA, on street tires? Also, I saw someone that ran a 2.09 sixty foot with the MREV on street tires. Other than that guy(can't remember the name), who else has run a flat 2.100, RWD, on street tires?

Right now the car is strong. And right now I'm driving it extremely well. On the other hand, I absolutely suck as a drag racer. Last night my mission was to run as well as I could, so I ignored the tree. As a result, I had several runs with reaction times measured at 2, 3, or even FOUR seconds. Pitiful.

Well I have almost always been into drag racing - for as long as I can remember at least. I don't know if I could keep a straight face if I tried to say I was a granny driver either.

The question is did the outing with the snowmobile actually affect how she drives her car?

Time analysis

Did a little analysis of my times. For this analysis, I included only the 13.8's and the 13.7.

I had 5 13.8's, and 1 13.7. Here are the 1/8th and 1/4th et's and traps
9.04@80.19 / 13.896@101.31 with a 2.157 sixty
8.987@79.59 / 13.812@102.23 with a 2.129 sixty
9.015@79.45 / 13.854@101.53 with a 2.156 sixty
8.979@79.95 / 13.791@102.22 with a 2.139 sixty
8.986@80.82 / 13.805@102.07 with a 2.165 sixty
8.983@79.73 / 13.809@101.89 with a 2.151 sixty

When I was running at the 1/8 track, DaveB and others recommended using a multiplication factor of either 1.55 or 1.54. The average factors for these times is 1.53671.

And on those runs, I gained an *average* of 21.92 mph. That tells me I've got decent top-end.

Great times and repeatability Trey!

It looks like we may get a real answer to MREV's effect on 1/4 mile numbers.

BTW can you remember (roughly) how far into 4th gear you were when you crossed the finish line? ...Early? ...Midway?

I can't say with any certainty. I believe it's just above 6000 rpms. I know it's pretty far up there. Trapping at 102 means that at the finish line I'm at least going 103, and IIRC, 4th tops out somewhere near 110.

To be honest, after I shift into fourth, I really don't look at the tach again. Too busy concentrating on slowing the car down enough before the right-hander at the end of the track.

Ammendment. 4th tops out at 119.12mph at 7000rpms, with the 3.54 final drive ratio and my tires(245/40/18's).

At 6000rpm in fourth, I am travelling at 102.10mph, so 6k rpms is just about right.

Awesome. It sounds like MREV has a good chance of improving both ET's and Traps.

We'll see...
