Will this problem be covered under powertrain warranty?

I have a same problem with my 05 G35 Sedan. I wonder if it will be covered by factory powertrain warranty (it's not like the problem is caused by my negligence/abuse)

 

Ran across an old post. i just brought an infiniti g35 crashed and when I got it they had the car in neutral. When i tried to shift the car into park the car wont shift. Any ideas that could help?? Not looking to spend a lot of money.

 

New transmission perhaps?

The shifter itself physically won't move or it WILL move but the vehicle doesn't engage into park?

 

Just picked up an '08 G35 and I must have touched something while I was removing/ disconnecting the radio fascia panel for wrap because I started getting the Shift to P error and now the Shift is stuck in Park and wont move unless the press down on the white shift release. I can see from the side that this little rod that fits into a little white plastic plate of sort isn't getting pushed all the way to the top. It's being hindered. I will try this fix later and report back. Everything was fine before I started unplugging radio and lighter and taking panels off. Hopefully it's a simple fix

 

MarlonG35, Sorry I can't help specifically but I'm pretty sure I recall this being discussed recently. If you do a search on the search bar with some key words from your post I bet that thread will come up. And I think your problem is different than this thread. Yours sounds like shift interlock problem while this old thread is about some kind of mechanical binding in the shifter assembly but not caused by the interlock.
