03 6MT Transmission replaced...and now...noise

So I got my 6MT tranny replaced due to 1-2 shift being clunky noisey and sometimes not even going in.

Now my car feels like crap.

Horrible noise when I roll off from a stop and scrapping noises as I accelerate through 1st gear....then the noises seem to stop once I get through 2nd gear.

Granted the 1-2 shift is way better....but its not worth it if now I have this horrible roll of noise and 1st gear scrapping noise....

any ideas.....

grrr i just drove around parking lot some more....

i could live with the slight scrapping through the low gears but HOLY ****..

worst rattle/clunking ever when letting off clutch and slowly going on gas to take off...reverse, 1st gear...doesn't matter HORRIBLE rattle clunk that wasn't there before.....

so much for new tranny fixing my problems....

just looked over my invoice.

all it says is transmission part 32010-CD008
and disc assy clutch 30100-CD019

so apparently i got a new clutch too ddint even realize...and for free

doesn't say anything about bearings...but it does list qty 3 of
R134A-Localsuvax

anyone else ever had a transmission replaced only to have horrible clunking scrapping noise with the new one?

Either way...its getting flatbedded back to the dealer monday......

Update on the "clutch chatter"

So after having zero clutch chatter for 40k miles and getting my transmission replaced due to bad synchros, I suddenly observed identical results as several others....horrible clutch chatter and starting the car rolling being painfully unsmooth.

The dealership decided to replace everything! Bearings, flywheel, clutch assy, clutch pad, pressure plate. All under warranty as well. I am hoping that this will return my car to its previous smooth clutch engagement performance before the new transmission was put in.

All though it sucks that it is taking so long...I am impressed by Orlando Infiniti. Many people have posted before that they could not get dealerships to do anything for them and that it was considered "normal" for a 40K car to have suck jerky clutch engagement. Not once has a refusal to alleviate the problems occured via Orlando Infiniti.

Great service, great customer support (at least in my situation), if anyone ever needs a good dealership in the central FL area, Orlando Infiniti is the one. Or if you live in Jacksonville...i hear that one is horrible.

As soon as i get the car back..if the clutch chatter and rough engagement is remedied I will post, so that others who experience this will know what can be done.

Picked up my car finally, after a week!

The 1-2 shift is much better (the original problem) and the clutch chatter/bogging problem is gone too!!!!!

I don't know if anyone else who experienced these problems still has them but if so, it can be fixed and isn't normal!! The dealership replaced my pressure plate, flywheel, throw out bearings and clutch assy. Nice smooth clutch engagment from stops signs, nice smooth shifting...im very pleased!

Now I gotta get some new 1/4 times since my 1-2 shift should be better

Question for you...how many miles do you have on your car now?

I had the 6MT and clutch replaced on my '03 coupe this spring. It had 58,000 miles on it when it was replaced. I just recently started getting the clutch-flywheel chatter just like you described, but mine is just when I am backing out of my garage. Once I get out of reverse and into first, it's usually fine. When you say they replaced the bearings under warrantee, was your car still under warrantee?

I always wondered, if my transmission that I got at 58,000 miles went out in 3000 miles, does the transmission have a warrantee over and above the car's standard 60,000 mile warrantee?

Not sure if it's the same in the US, but in Canada, the repair done by the Dealership is covered for 1 year or 10,000 Km (6000 miles).

US dealers give a 365 day, [you might get 366 days] 12,000 mile warranty on replacement parts.

So you are [could be] good until 70,000 miles on the components that were replaced.

Think twice then think again about the Infiniti Extended Service contract you can buy up to 59,999 miles or 4 years.

You should be able to get it replaced anyway...the drivetrain warranty goes 6 year 70k right?

So as long as you are under 70k.
