Just installed JWT clutch and fly - .5 -1.5 rpms Grinding/rattling Noise ????

I just had my clutch and flywheel and throwout bearing replaced, JWT style

Well when i picked up my car, in the rpm range of .5 to 1.5k there is this horrible grinding or rattling sound, then after about 1.5k it goes away, (i will not be even be touching the clutch)

I have put about 30 miles on it and it hasnt gone away,

Does anyone know what this could be ? It wasnt there before i replaced my stuff,

If anyone has any clue let me know please

PS. I own a G35 2003 and the throwout bearing I used was a brand new 2003 350z throwout bearing , I was told they were the same is that true ?

People need to
a) learn the search function
b) learn to do research on mods before installing them

What you have is commenly refered to the "cement mixer" effect. Your car will sound like an active cement mixer driving down the road. Its quite amusing actually, but is entirely normal. If it bothers you that much, the only clutch that will produce no noise like this is the stock clutch. Any clutch/flywheel that is lightened vs factory units will produce this "rattle".

Normal ??

Nah this isnt normal, this sounds like rocks in a barrel, I would be embarrassed to drive a car that sounds like this, this is terribly loud

I took it to a transmission specialist and he said it might be this bearing or something,

When i put in the clutch it goes away,

If this is trully normal, can someone that has a JWT kit paste a link with a sound clip please ?

Aftermarket Clutch & Flywheel [combo's] arent known to be quiet.

The noise/chattering is probably normal; But I cant judge since I have not riden your G.

Absolutely normal......stock flywheels are much heavier than after market.

The stock flywheel on our cars have the same chatter if you listen carfully but its at a minimum as it is made bigger and thinker to deaden the sound. If you compared both you would see that. I have done alot of research on aftermarket flywheels and they all do the same thing.

Both of my buddies have after market flywheel and clutch combos and they are noisy but as soon as you engage the clutch and hit the gas you don't hear it.

to help put this noise in perspective
if you were to use only your tranny to brake/slow down at like 4-5k rpms it would sound twice as loud high pitch and with rocks in a metal barrel

^^^ the top 2 posts came when i was typing ^^

KK i wish one of you lived next to me lol I am the only young (24) G owner in my whole county i think,

Man its a crazy harsh sound i expected it to be louder but not like this lol

thanks guys for all your feed back and I would love to hear from others cause right now i am scared to drive my car

ohh thats a different story. high pitched is not good. you should only be getting rattle below 1.5k rpm.

its almost like the sound when you have no brakes left and they grind against metal and metal lol (bought a $400 neon once to destroy lol) it makes that sound but instead on the brakes its like in my tranny area lol

Yeah... only our trannies have this problem /endsarcasm

This will happen to any manual made by any car company.

When I had my tilton setup it was pretty bad. Up till just about 1.5k it sounded like the car was literally falling apart at times (mainly in colder weather). Just because you cant hear it passed 1.5k inside the car doesnt mean it goes away though. If you have someone drive your car by you a few times at over 1.5k, youll still hear a little extra noise vs stock. I got sick of dealing with the catch on the tilton, as its not a fun clutch to drive daily. I went to the JWT combo and its not nearly as loud but its still way more noticeable than stock. The noise your talking about when you downshift to 4.5-5k in the previous gear, is it like a hollow tinning kind of noise, or is it a repetitive clunking noise. Sound clips would really help if at all possible.

the noise i am refering to, is only between .5 rpms and 1.8 rpms and its only if the clutch is let out and i am excelerating, I am somewhat used to after market sounds but this isnt sounding like that, unless JWT makes their clutches and flys sound like a 82 civic with a blown tranny lol

I am going to a shop tomorow morning, we are going to lift it and operate or at least see whats wrong,

I will try to post a sound clip so you all can hear at that time lol
