Clicking From Shifter when Applying Brake

I've never noticed this sound before... I have an AT, with the shifter in P and the ignition in either acc, on or start, when I apply the brake I heat a ticking/clicking sound from the shifter area... it's faint when the key is turned to the first position (acc I think), and more pronounced in on possition and when started... A friend of mine suggested it might be the solenoid that prevents shifting into gear without applying brakes might be going out.

Has anyone else experienced this or have idea what it might be?...

I haven’t heard of this being a problem in our cars... I have slightly more than 30K miles... has anyone had this solenoid go out?

well, based on the responses on two threads here and a call to dealer svc - apparently it's a normal sound.

I'm puzzled by how I never heard it in 2.5 yrs.... oh well, thanks for the repsonses.
