Question for those with a 5AT.

When driving in "Manumatic Mode" Do you guys get off of the accelerator when shifting like in a manual transmission or do you just keep the foot planted and "Powershift"???....

the reason i ask is because when i try the normal way of getting my foot off of the pedal to shift the car seems to jock back but when "Powershifting" the car gives me a much smoother ride. Im just curious to see how you guys drive it.

thanks for the input guys. I didnt think i was causing any damage to it by Powershifting and the ride is so much smoother so ill just drive like that all the time now.

I had the same thoughts when I first got the car...and got the same results as you as I eased off the gas to get a feel for it in comparison.

Then I started to think that when the car is in the "D" mode, it is, in effect, powershifting with each change of gears.

I believe the shifting seems more pronounced in the "DS" mode because we are pulling the paddle/shifter and EXPECTING the change of gears. And in most cases we are into the tach pretty well, too (At least I am).

My theory could be a pile of fertilizer, but it makes sense to me...

I do believe WOT or something near it triggers the shift solenoids to apply either full or more line pressure for firm shifts. So I'd stay on it

One thing I noticed with the autoenginuity is that line pressure decreases when switched from d to any manumatic gear. Even at WOT, it was lower in manumatic than allowing the tcm to control the shifts.

The car knows how to shift much better than you or me at WOT... Keep it in "D" for faster shifts and response.

If you have enough power it won't shift.

I'm not sure that it won't shift with more power, mine did but not very well but it did shift.
