if you think about it.. sad to say for a 40k g35 it shouldnt have any major problems.. the tranny plays an important part of your 40k g35 and most of all im sure infinity has had numerous complains about their manual tranny back in 03 and it should have been revise on the 07 g35. im thinking of giving my girl my auto g35 and just getting a much reliable/faster 07 is350 my research says it can do a quarter mile of 13.2 on just an intake/exhaust upgrade on a nice cold day hmm, that will just about beat the e46 333hp m3 smg tranny (talk about a reliable m3 killer) hope you can also join me this year on the (my is-forum)

Hmm I heard alot of 6 MT Tranny Issues, and was kinda sceptical about buying my new G with the Manual Trans! But so far out of my 600 Mile break-in time so far, I have no problems with the Trans. It shifts fine into any gear, and 2nd gear does not clunk or have a hard time going in. Granted it's a new car. but so far all is good. If you treat it right it will treat you right! That means no power shifting, LOL. Now if thats the case and you now have Tranny Problems. There your Answer, hehe. *Crosses Fingers for next couple thousand miles!*

I know for a fact that the 03 Manual had issues. I had an 03 350z that had a new tranny at 9k miles. I just bought an 03 G35 that is currently at the dealer for a new tranny at 40k miles. Both had the same problems. The Z would gring 3rd gear when it was cold and they replaced it. The G35 started to grind in 3rd every time I shifted into 3rd. If you go to My350z.com, there is a ton of people that had them replaced. I am suprised that this post isnt 20 pages long. I guess becasue they fixed some of the issues after 2003.

Hmm, I've got a small problem with third, but 2nd is the worst. With the weather warming up though, the feel is improving dramatically.

After some 28,000 miles, mine is still shifting like butter. Time will tell. The only complaint, which I have, is that the clutch pedal feel is softer than my liking and the clutch engagement point is higher than I prefer.

TAKE IT TO THE DELAER!!!! I WILL BET A NEW TRANNY IS IN ORDER!!!!

My 350z had a very very small grind in 3rd only when cold. After it warmed up it was fine. I took it to the dealer for another issue and just mentioned the 3rd gear. They said NEW TRANNY!!

Did replacement of the tranny fix the issue?

I have this diesel-engine-like sound as well, very annoying indeed. AND chattering clutch!!! it's really obvious and loud. I am going to take it to the dealership this Sat. but I wonder what can they do for me? or I am wasting my time?

what drives me INSANE is the noises arent consistent and dont always appear!! thats why I take it in to the dealer, the mechanic drives with me and say yeah there's a problem. then they park it on the side, another mechanic takes over and drives it and the noise is gone, so they return it to me saying there was nothing wrong and the first mechanic made a mistake.
I took it to 5 different dealerships in SoCal, and this scenario happened every single time!!!!!!!!!!
if your noise is consistent you should RIP THEIR ***** OFF if they dont fix it for you. definitely take it in.

Yes, I made sure that they gave me a new part number. Its still hard to say if its fixed since I have seen 2 extremes. My Z went bad at 9k miles and the G at 40k. I do know that there is a new part out though and that old one is no longer being put in cars.

As for gear ratios, I think they're different. But for synchros, theyre probably the same ones with the problems elsehwhere in Nissan.

Thanks for the info, my dealership is a pain with this transmission and wont do anything. Especially with the weather being warm now, I'll go back in during the winter and drag them through the mud with your help.

Thanks
