Installed RE Shifter / 5/16 Spacer

I finally installed my 5/16 spacer, iso thermal gasket, even did the coolant control valve (wasn't initially going to do). Also did my Rogue shifter. The short throw shifter was a PITA, the shift **** is on ridiculously tight, had to vice grip the shifter, while we loosened the **** with a towel and channel locks, there are slight imperfections on my **** now. What a ridiculous engineering effort by Nissan.

Anyways, the shifter does feel great, throws are definately a little shorter and feels much better from 1 -2 and 2-3 than factory. The control socket sucked, broke two little clips on the new one I bought, waste of money, just used the old one, you really need to be careful with that. It is difficult to find 5th, which pisses me off, I guess I will just need to get used to that.

The iso thermal gastket is questionable as to whether it was even worth taking off the lower plenum to install the thing, but I paid for it, so why not.

As for the spacer, I mentally feel like it does rev a little more freely above 5k, although I could be fooling myself. I will make sure I re-torque the bolts after a few days.

After taking two trips, I can honestly say it is much easier to shift smoothly from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd under moderate acceleration, and the RPMs don't seem to hang as high between shifts. Maybe its a combintation of the shifter and the spacer. Anyone else notice this?

The reason that 5th is hard to find might be that you you need to adjust the guide plate

All the gears stayed easy for me to find after installing the RE shifter. As others said, you may want to doublecheck you put the guide plate on correctly.

How difficult was the install for the spacer?

I have the 5/16 Iso thermal spacer on order. Hopefully its not a pain in the neck.

Next up, Mrev2.

How is this normal? It should NOT be hard to find 5th gear... it's so easy on my car to get it in, even if I skip from 2nd to 5th I have no problem finding the gear.

It's wierd, my shifter can go farther to the right than where 5th gear is, 1st is perfect.

Did you follow the procedure they had in the instructions for calibrating the guide plate?

Good point,

I guess Ill have to wait an additional week for my Mrev2, but I'd rather do it all at once.
