Daily or not, you only have 8,500 miles on your car and your clutch routinely smells like charred mule's a$$. Keep it up, and you'll be buying a new one. No doubt about it.

sounds like ur clutch did not engage all the way when u smashed the throttle, evethough u had ur foot off the pedal. That happened to my friend once when he was racing my car at the drag strip. But 1st to 2nd shift and a clutch smell is not good, either u are burning the clutch while shifting or its time for a new clutch. The only thing that u should smell when u launch is a tire smell not clutch.

That should tell you something.

must of been driver error
I'd say that's a safe assumption.

It was NOT a driver error, there have been times when the clutch gets stuck in its engaging point and causes it to burn eventhough ur foot is completely off. It is rare but it happens. Having diven my car about 40k it only has happened once.

Depends on your perspective. Abusing the clutch in this car with all its known faults is a 'driver error' in and of itself IMO.

I'm familiar with the 'clutch stuck to the floor' problem - it's a problem well known with the 6MT. Given that, why do it?

I had about 10 runs that day trying to brake my PB at the track, that was the reason to it. At the end of the day i broke my PB.

A driver error would be that u purposely feathering the clutch to get a better 60 ft time. Which did not happen.

Looks like you're well on your way to finding the limitations of your clutch.

In my experience, working out and being able to beat someone's a$$ aren't necessarily related.

Exercising your car at the track and burning your clutch trying to chirp second gear aren't even in the same discussion as far as I'm concerned (unless you're still mentally 17 ). One is related to organized legal activity, the other to showing your a$$.

You know well enough which side of that conversation I'd fall out on.

i find the trial and error process to be more fun

so to avoid the chirp you would have to let out the clutch slowly... which kind of defeats the entire purpose of a fast time

are we still talking about 6mts here?
