Exclamation Need help ASAP concerning AUTO transmission

What’s going on guys? I think I have a serious problem with my car...I will try to explain it at the best of my ability.

So I was driving to the g/fs house tonight and everything is fine. She calls and tells me she hasn’t left her friends house yet and said she would be about another 15 min. So instead of waiting outside the house I decided to drive around for 10 min or so then turn around and go to her house. I get to a stoplight and I’m driving the car in tiptronic mode and the car downshifts as usual and no problem. I start to go slowly giving the car more gas; I hit about 15% throttle and all the sudden the car goes into this rage. It starts to jerk back and forth almost as the car has bad gas, but 100 times worse. So I start to freak out a little bit so I let off the gas and it goes away. So I up shift the car to 2nd gear and the car is fine so I give it a little bit of gas everything is fine and once I get around 2500 RPMs and about 15% throttle the car starts to do it again, jerking back and forth. At this point I’m pissed off and trying to figure out what the hell is wrong so I up shift into 3rd gear. Once I get into 3rd gear the car starts to go into this violent rage of jerking back and forth again around 2500 RPMs and at about 15% throttle. So I up shift into 4th gear (doing about 40MPH) and drive it really slow at about 5% throttle, barely accelerating and the car is fine. So I turn around and go back to her house flying through stops signs and what not scared that the car will not go into a higher gear again if I stop. I pull in front of her house and put the car in park...it takes the car like 5 seconds to get into park. After i put it in park i put it in reverse to see what happens and it takes the car a couple seconds to actually engage into reverse. I put it back in park and it once again takes a couple seconds to engage and then it goes into park.

No warning lights came on at all inside the car...I checked the engine as best as possible (its night time out) and didn’t see anything wrong. Looked under the car and nothing was leaking and everything seemed ok.

Any input would be really helpful guys. Sorry for the long post...

Thanks,
Sean

have you tried resetting your ECU? unplug the batt for the night and plug it back in in the morning...that's the first thing I would do.

I don’t think anyone can honestly give you a definitive answer based on just the explanation of symptoms (as good as it may have been)... If it were I, the car would absolutely be at the dealer tomorrow.

yeah, its weird...it almost feels like the torque converter or something. It wasn't a VIOLENT jerk, but it was enough to scare the **** out of you...kind of felt like you were just running the car straight into the rev limiter.

What is limp mode? I have never heard of it?

I dont know i left it in tiptronic because i was afraid if i put it in drive it was going to get stuck a gear and not shift out.

A limp mode is when the ECU see's something wrong enough with the car that it will not let the car rev passed 2500rpms . But it doesnt buck around , it just bogs down the more gas you give it
