It sounds nothing like limp mode.

What color was the tranny fluid? Was it dark? Or particularly light?

The transmission fluid was normal color not light not dark kind of a carmel color. The car would accelerate, but once i hit about 17% throttole (per my AFC controller) it would start rocking back and forth almost as though the rev limiter was being hit.

tinman, thanks for those threads, but that doesnt seem to be the problem at all. It only happend for that night and that night only, hasnt happend before that and hasnt happend since i started driving the again. Everything seems perfect again. All of those cases they could actually drive the car though, with me the car would not go above 2500 RPMS everytime it got to about 2000-2500 RPMS the car would go into this rage, almost like someone slammed the brakes then let off, slammed the brakes then let off. It would keep doing that until i let off of the gas pedal. It was as though the car was being run into the rev limiter extremely hard.

Like I said earlier, MAF issue. Not being able to go above 2000-2500rpms is a clear sign the MAF flaked out, is failing, or is on it's way out. 2500rpms is the maximum allowed rpm when the MAF fails and the ECU must run without out it. It's called limp mode.

Cai?

NISMO G,
I had the same problem with mine. But it happened to me after I cleaned my airfilter. I think it was not dry enough because when I drove it around the car jerk violently the same way yours did. But when I drove it below 2500 rpm it was fine. I parked it for the night and the next afternoon it seems to be fine now. I have not had the problem since. I don't know if this helps you, maybe you got some water on your CAI?

I don't think your ecu will read problems with transmission that well. I had experience with Honda/Acura auto transmissions (granted that they are crap to being with) and they did the same thing you talked about. With that jerking and stuff.

The tranny took a dump basically and both under warranty got brand new transmissions. I kind of suspected this.

My dad has an automatic Maxima and it runs just fine though. However I guess imports just make bad automatics.

Here's my two cents...you said your tranny fluid was caramel color? Is that right guys. I use the OEM tranny fluid and mine is straight red, and I keep it that way because I do drain and refills every 10K just to be safe.

I actually did clean my airfilter earlier that day...that might have been the problem.

^^ probably the problem. If you are cleaning the Injen filter like the K&N, your supposed to let it air dry overnight. I bet you maf got some water on it and freaked.

It almost sounds like broken motor mounts honestly.

Especially if your ECU came up clean.
