5th gear issue

I got a 05 6mt with about 18k miles on it and recently whenever I'm about to shift into 5th gear the stick gets like stuck right before and i have to jam it in. When I jam it in my gears dont grind or anyhthing and my clutch is all the way down.. im sure. I've found the problem to be at any rpm too including idle... it is certainly a lot harder to force in then any other gear..

Anyone have this issue or know what i might be..? is it worth taking it to the dealer? I dont want to mess anything up..

When was the last time you had your clutch checked? I've had this issue with other cars and most of the time it was the clutch. Other times it was the synchro for the gear
With only 18k I doubt it's the transmission.

Our 6speeds are known trouble makers.... I had mine replace at 36k. It started like yours.. kinda hard to get into gear sometimes... then the grinding followed. Infiniti gave me a new tranny, and even installed it for me. How nice was that? I have been good since.

why 5th gear and no other gear if its my clutch?

and also should I ask the dealer about it then if it seems like it may lead to more problems?

I'm just saying what had happened to me in my 89 GT-R. I replaced the clutch and all was well. Mine happened in 3rd gear only.

if its your clutch, you would notice the issue in other gears especially at high speed

i had an 03 z 6mt and my clutch went out in miami, so instead of paying out the *** for stock flywheel and clutch, i got a clutchmasters clutch flywheel combo, think stage 2. neways, my point is i got it installed @ a nissan dealership and got it back, took it for a drive when i got maybe 10 miles and my car wouldnt go in 5th either. I even had my girlfriend try from the passenger seat and she couldnt force it in. so i went to nuetral and the tried 5th again and it went it, but about 3 sec later my z started to spin and hit the wall @ like 60mph headon on the interstate...
Hence why i have a 03g35 with an auto tranny

btw there is a huge lawsuit on the wreck for opr injuries and the car is still being held as evidence, saying that nissan didnt replace my shift **** correctly. who knows just be careful with taht tranny already doing that i had 56k miles on mine

Wow, I'm having the EXACT same issue, starting yesterday. 5th gear binds up going into gear, no grinding at all, all other gears are just fine. '04 G35 coupe 6MT, 41K miles. I just installed a 13lb lightweight flywheel, but the car has been up on blocks all winter so I don't know if it's related or not. Any update B~PAIN? Did you find a cure, or at least a diagnosis? Thanks much!!! I'm on my way to a track event at Mid-America, and I'll need 5th gear at two places every lap...
