flywheels

looking to put a lighter flywheel in as my next mod.

Can anyone tell me what the downsides is to doing this if there are any. My car is my only car and i rely on it everyday.

Id like to know the weight of the stock flywheel.

found this one too, any thoughts?

drivability and chatter are the downsides to lightening the flywheel. the lighter the flywheel, the better the dirver you need to be.

stock weighs 30 lbs.

so i imagine its just having to learn the shift over again uh? kinda like getting into a new or different car?

What exactly do you mean by drivability being a downside. It is a pain to drive normal errands and stuff. Does it make the car less enjoyable to drive under normal situations.

thanks for the info.

Exactly!!! Since you don't have that boat anchor spinning around you have to re-learn take-offs especially. I had the JWT combo in my previous car and loved it. To be honest with you, I stalled my car 3 times getting out of the parking lot when I picked it up. As for adding power not really but you do go threw the gears quicker so it seems like you do. I will do this mod again for sure!!! Once you get use to the new feel for it, traffic is nothing to worry about. Oh yeah, my car was a daily commuter. If you have the cash, don't waste it on pulleys just get the lighten flywheel and if you're going more than bolt-on's, throw a clutch in there while you have it open. Hope it helps!

not hard at all. A light weight flywheel + a metallic clutch will be a challenge though.

Once I had mine in, by the time I got it home "Re-learning" was done. Why are people afraid of this mod? If you get too aggressive clutch geared more for, say Drag then you're in trouble. You can get in that you either engage or you stall. Talk to someone that knows clutches and tell them your goals and they should be able to steer you in the right direction.
