Unhappy Possible Clutch Problem-Help

I have a 2004 Sedan 6MT, 68,000 miles. Today on the way home from work I noticed my clutch was making a loud "click" or "pop" sound on takeup. The click happens just when the pedal leaves the floor on the takeup stroke. The clutch still seems to disengage and engage fine. The click seems to be coming from inside the bellhousing and is clearly audible inside and outside the car. It does not happen on every stroke, but maybe 2 out of 3 times. Anybody have any idea what this might be or how bad the bill is going to be? Out of warranty. Any help appreciated.

My pedal does the same thing, but it only started after I installed my clutch line. We've determined that it likely needs to be bled. I'm not sure that's your problem, but if your clutch is still grabbing, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Birmingham too. Have you found anywhere other than Crown to have your car worked on?

Oh really? We should meet up some time. It seems like my wife and I are the only sedan enthusiasts in the city.

I've had crown do a few things. They installed my clutch last year, cheaper than any one else locally. They also replaced my engine under warranty(oil consumption), and put on my headers while the engine was out. The service writer there was a fabulous guy, but he just recently quit for a shorter commute. So I'm having to start over with the new service adviser.

I've also had work done at several local places. PM me for some more info if you're interested. It really depends on what you want done exactly.
