Manual Trans Warranty Question
So lately when I start my car, let it warm up and get back to idle speed I try to get into reverse and can't. Its not my fault, the trans is done. It takes me 10 tries or so, blipping the throttle, pumping the clutch, shifting slow, shifting fast.
Also I cannot get into first gear from any other gear unless I sit in neutral for 10 seconds or so. Traffic driving sucks and I always get honked at.
I made an appointment for Monday morning and will have a loaner waiting.
So what can I do or say to make sure its replaced?
I know intermittent problems are always hard to show to the dealer, but what should I say to the service man. to get this done.
Let me know what you did or said or just general stories about your tranny replacements.
Thanks bro's!

If it constantly does that and its still under warranty, the dealer will most like replace it. I took my coupe in and told them that it grinds the gear when i make a shift. They tested it and found out that it does and said that they are going to replace it. Simple as that.
I just found out I'm getting a 2nd new tranny again yesterday @ 50K. The first one grinded into 5th, the second one whined like a pig and would fight me getting into 1st gear.
The warranty is 6yrs/70K mi. Take it in, sounds like ur definitely getting a new tranny.

those that are grinding into gear, is it really obvious?
is it - clutch all the way in - shift into 5th - grinding noise - release clutch
or - clutch all the way in - shift into 5th - release clutch - grinding noise

Not always obvious at first, but it progressively gets worse. It happens as you move the shifter into 5th gear with the clutch all the way down. I sometimes even had trouble getting it in. (I'm talking about the shifter still, get you minds outta the gutter!
