Is there a DIY tranny drain/refill?

Don't know if this is the right forum to post (nobody is in the DIY forums) but I was searching and can not find it. I want to know where the bolt is to drain the fluid and how many quarts it take for the ATF color to be the same. I know that you need to drain the fluid and keep refilling until the color of the fluid is the same going out as the new fluid going in. Thanks

you can disconnect the coolant return line and lead it to a large large bucket.
but you really need two people to flush the system

the drain plug will require a 19mm socket. 4-5 quarts should come out. be sure to jack up the car a lil higher on the drivers side so that you can drain as much fluid as you can

I've been thinking about doing this myself as well, I'm at 38K miles and it's not as smooth as I'd like, kind of clunks into gear a little when swithching from park to reverse to drive. With my old car I took it to a valvoline shop and had them drain, NOT FLUSH, the transmission fluid. I've heard really bad things about having a shop flush your AT, lots of shavings stirred up and something about the machine they use being contaminated with the last cars dirty fluid.

If anyone has done it themselves please share some details or pics!

If abnormal wear and tear/damage has already occurred, (as indicated by the noise you are hearing), it is very unlikely that changing the fluid will rectify the noise. Sorry for the bad news. If you want to proceed anyway, make certain your use genuine NISSAN Matic J TRANS fluid, as this is the only approved transmission fluid for your vehicles automatic transmission. If your vehicles automatic transmission is equipped with a filter, make certain your change that too or it can lead to an expensive transmission failure.

Depends on how many miles you have on the fluid and the fluid's condition. Also if the fluid is low or high, it can cause the tranny to act odd.

I suggest getting the level properly checked and getting the fluid's condition checked.

If it's been 30K since it's been changed then I suggest:
a) if the fluid is inspected and deemed bad, do full tranny flush with j-matic or equivalent
b) If the fluid is okay, a drain and fill is probably okay.

I don't think my tranny is bad. It just has a slight clunking sound SOMETIMES. I don't hear it no more but all I wanted to know is if there IS a DIY tranny drain/refill.
