You can use different or the same, providing they meet the requirements.

My '05 6MT didn't seem to like Royal Purple at all. It resulted in the worst feel/operation I've encountered with my G. While the OEM stuff doesn't seem to stay extremely effective for long periods of time, putting the OEM fluid back into the 6MT got rid of the notchiness/near grind that was present before the change. The Royal Purple made it even worse. I changed back after a day.

I used Lucas Oil in the diff. Seems to be just fine. Store didn't have enough Lucas Oil for me to use in the 6MT. Some like it, some don't, for 6MT use.

im running royal purple for motor oil and i love it. but why is there max-gear oil bad? I have 75W-90 but the manual says 75W-80, does it matter whether I use 75W90 vs. 75W-80? I live in washington state.

the oil says it has a limited slip additive in it, and it says meets requirements of API GL-4 and GL-5. it says great for manual transmissions requiring gl-4 or gl-5 fluids. then it also says meets requirements of MIL-L-2105E.

it says to increase horespower through drive train, maxium gear life, shock load protection, cooler gearbox temps, saves fuel.

I know royal purple makes good stuff, so basically should i use the same stuff in both my transmission and differential??? and what weight should i use. thanks

I believe you need GL-4 for the transmission, as GL-5 has some sulfur additive that can corrode the gears. GL-5 for the rear diff.
