Exclamation 04' 6MT Tranny replacement question!!!!!

Question for those of you who have had your 6MT's replaed for any issue under warranty.....Did the dealer replace your clutch disk under warranty as well? Here's my dilema....my 04' is grinding 2nd gear. It's still under warranty so I take it to the dealer, explain to the service write whats going on and he tells me not to worry, they will most likely just replace it all together. He then told me that since the tranny will already be out, he highly recommends paing for a new clutch only and I will be saving on all the labor to replace the clutch later on.....made sense so I asked him to get me the price on the parts. My car only has 27,xxx miles on it. I started searching the forums here for similar problems, and I have come across a few threads in which people claim that the dealership INCLUDED a new clutch disk free of charge under warranty with the tranny replacement. Anybody that has any experience with this please help. Im taking my car in on thursday and want to be informed as to whether or not this guy is trying to screw me. THANKS!!!!

I don't think clutch is included. I got mine replaced for a 5th gear grind and they asked me if I wanted to replace it, and I think they gave me a quote on it. I have jwt clutch+flywheel and they left it alone. I would upgrade to jwt, if anything. no need to replace the stock clutch at 27k.

Well, apparently nobody cares, but just an update that may help put somebody ELSE with the same problem in the future. I took my car in for a few repairs at my local Infiniti dealer, South Motors Infiniti. (1)THe axles started the famous "clicking" : performed service bulletin under warranty. (2) The transmission would occasionally grind 2nd gear: Transmission replaced with revised transmission under warranty, no questions asked! (3)Driver's seat leather coming apart by left buttcheek : Leather seat cover special ordered under warranty.

While the transmission was out, the service advisor recommended I replace the clutch to save myself all the labor charges that would be incurred at a later date. WHen I asked him about some other people getting the clutch disk replaced under warranty with the transmission replacement, he told me that only 2003's would get the disk replaced as well. THe 2004-up models already had the revised clutch disk. THe clutch kit only cost around $250. I had bought some aftermarket brake pads and asked them to install as well as re-surface my rotors and he said no problem.

I dropped my car off at 8:30am, left in a service loaner and got a call the next morning at 9:00am saying my car was ready!!!!!!! I could not beleive it. I was expecting my car to be down for at least a week!!! I was totally impressed by the service at South Motors Infiniti in Miami and would reccommend them to ANYBODY in the south FL area! Well, just thought I'd share my RARE happy story about a dealer/stealership!

i had a similar issue, and my clutch/flywheel wasn't covered. But since they had the transmission out already, and i wouldn't have to pay for labor, i decided to go ahead and do it anyways!!

I'm having my tranny replaced under warranty due to grinding, but the dealer told me they will replace it with a "rebuilt" one and not a brand new.
Do you know if you got a new one?
Also, do you know if it's the 008 or 009?

They also want me to pay $600 for a new clutch ($400 in parts and $200 for extra labor)

at 27k miles there should be absolutely no reason to change the clutch. Unless u burn the clutch every chance u get then the clutch should last u atleast 60-80k with trackdays included in it. If u did have it changed, it was a waste of money.

I had my tranny replaced at around 30k and no the clutch was NOT covered under warranty since my 3rd gear blew out.
