Gear grinds on 3rd... no matter what O_O?

Whenever I am redlining the car.. I always grind on the 3rd gear.. even though I am 120% sure that I clutched it before I shift... My gearbox feels all crunchy when I drive... somtimes its ok.. but espeically in the morning my gearbox feels crunchy as F***!!! Does anyone know why this is happening to me? I am so sad about this issue because I can't even beat my friend's Civic Si.. WHAT A DISGRACE TO THE G35!!!... Also I know my clutch is going out due to the fact that my clutch is pretty damn heavy compare to other people's G35... Still thinking about what kind of cutch I should get. I talked to one of the guy at the dealership and he told me that I have to get the whole set(clutch, bearing, FLYWHEEL..etc) because he said that if I get the clutch itself only I cannot get it re-surface?? something like that... Is it true...? I am so sad when I drive my G now because I know I can definitely take my friend's Civic..:'[...

I say you take in your G to the dealer about your transmission. These transmissions are naturally very notchy, but u should not be grinding 3rd gear... And yes, if your gonna get a new clutch, you MUST get a new flywheel with it...the stock dual mass one cannot be resurfaced.

That is a very popular clutch and fly combo....
It could be the clutch causing the grind, but I say its simply your transmission...

I've heard the synchros can go bad as well. Lots of ppl have had warranty replacements due to grinding/synchro(s) gone bad.

My gearbox is notchy. 1st to 2nd on real cold days are a bitch but get better when gearbox warms up.
Switched to Amsoil in gearbox and is much better than when running oem dino. Not as notchy and not as bad when cold.

I had the same problem with my last tranny until I blew the third gear. now after the dealer replaced the tranny, i haven't had any problems. I love this new tranny, it is a night and day difference.

This THREAD is a disgrace to the G35.

You're 120% sure you "clutched it before you shift"? I don't even know what that's supposed to mean. Does it mean you clutched, or that you're using a 200% scale so there's an 80% chance you didn't clutch?

Your clutch is extra-crunchy in the morning? Maybe it's just not a 'morning clutch.'

I'm sure not being able to beat your friend's Civic is a emotional low point in your young life, but trust me, there are other things to look forward to.

Buy a cheap clutch. Judging from the above, it won't be long before you'll be replacing it as well.

Rofl. You're on today. Someone must have *issed you off.

I think maybe he forgot to add the milk and that's why it's so crunchy in the am.

If you say its the transmission, what could possibly go wrong with it? Does that mean I might need to get a new tranny? I've heard that the 03 G35 coupe tranny is not as strong..

I'd say there's a 120% chance it's operator error.

Yes, if you can replicate this grinding to the dealership, without having to redline the gear, you will have your transmission replaced, assuming youre still under warranty.

GW, cut the dude some slack mannnnnn

Couldn't it be your throw out bearing are bad? This should be covered under warranty, especially if you have not had anyone take apart your tranny already. Mine used to grind into second and the dealer changed my T.O.B and it is fine now.

Also, about the flywheel they are correct. The dual mass flywheel cannot be resurfaced properly. It is best to get a new one while you're tranny is still apart. I have a Jim Wolf Clutch and Flywheel and I love it. Alright I'm out for the day.

Good luck,

David

You're not funny at all, so stop with your worthless response and grow up.
Whatever feelings I have toward my friend's civc, thats my ****. I don't need you to tell me what to do and what to look forward.
