Exclamation Clutch/Flywheel Noise after upgrade.

Over the Past few months Theirs been a rattle noise from 2,000rpm down shortly after having a JWT clutch and Flywheel installed.

Has anyone who has had a clutch flywheel replacement had any of these problems??

Any way to fix the issue or is this normal?

I'm pretty sure that is normal. I will be having a Fidanza flywheel and JWT clutch installed early next month, and everyone i've talked to has told me to expect that sort of sound and that it is pretty much normal. My dad also has a lightweight flywheel in his nsx and it makes the same rattle. I'm pretty sure there is nothing you can do about it. Hope this helps.

How bad is it, would you reconsider the upgrade if you had known beforehand ? I'm also wondering what kind of performance increase you can feel.

a infiniti-tech told me when you replace the stock clutch/flywheel to an after market one, you're going to notice a lot more noise..

he said that our cars have a dual mass flywheel, which helps reduce noise.. when you switch to a single mass flywheel, you're gonna hear more rattling

hope this helps..

For on the Fly driving it's great, catches quick wants to smoke the tires a little more. so on performance great, but the noise aggravates the heck out me... So you'd have to weigh out your decision. The performance is cheaper if that helps make your mind.

Sure it's not a loose bolt from the flywheel? Those thing use about 8 bolts.

When I upgraded my s2k with the exedy clutch/flywheel, i didn't hear any rattles at all.

U sure its a "rattle" or a "chatter" noise?

Its clutch chatter, and amongst lightweight flywheels, its completely normal. When you push in the clutch, it should quiet down 100%. If you push in your clutch, and your still getting the chatter, then something is wrong.

Yes, it completely goes go away anything higher than 2 grand and whenever I push the clutch even slightly in. I was worried but then noticed that i was having zero performance loss but imporvement instead... just the noise threw me off... Thanks Guys!

ya sounds like you are just experiencing the chatter that goes hand and hand with the lightened flywheel

joseph,

If you had to do it all over again, would you stay with the OEM flywheel, or keep the JWT? I need to buy one TODAY, and have to make that decision. I am also thinking about Nismo
