What transmission fluid are you using in the G35 6MT?

What transmission fluid are you using in the G35 6MT? Is GL4 or GL 5 required? What weight? Synthetic or conventional? Also what is the recommended change interval on them? Is there a DIY thread out there on how to change?

I did a search, but it did not yield much relevant info...

Thanks.

Further research shows that we need 3.75L of oil, 75w90 GL4 grade. Please advise if I am incorrect. Thanks

yup..you r correct.

i use straight redline MT-90 and replace every 15,000 miles. like the link u posted some like to do half/half of MT-90 and MTL

replacing the fluids is a very easy task. just as easy as doing an oil change...except of course the special tool you need to add the fluid.

How much does this special tool cost to add the fluid? Why can't I simply use a piece of flexible tubing and a funnel to add the fluid?

Anyhow I believe I will be going with the following:

Amsoil MTG 75w90 GL-4 for the transmission (going to buy 4 quarts):

Amsoil Gear Lube 80W90 GL-5 for differential (going to buy 2 quarts):

amsoil is also a great product to use.

the top of the transmission isn't as easily accessible as you might think. if your funnel has a really long, flexible tube, it might work, but you're not gonna have fun.

i use a custom peristaltic pump and some tubing.

you can go to any car parts store to pick up the tool you'll need to add the fluids

Amsoil is a great choice.

As for the "tool" it's actually a small pump. Go to a place like Napa, tell them what you want to do and they will sell you a $5-10 pump to be able get the fluid in. You can't do it with gravity because the container/hose can't get up high enough. It's a messy job but worth doing.

The rear diff is much more critical if has not been done before. You can do it with the hose/container.

I just completed the differential fluid flush on Sunday with the Amsoil AGL 80w90. I hope to do the transmission fluid next weekend.

Look at WalMart in the "Automotive" section, you will find a little "Hand Oil Pump" It costs less than ten dollars and will screw right on the quart bottles of tranny fluid. I just changed mine with all Castrol synthetic 75W90 and Royal Purple in the Diff.
