05 AT shift lag

1st post. Gonna buy a G. Tried Search. Have question.

I found an 05 coupe that hits my G spot. It has only 23k on the odo and a great asking price. The handling is very tight but the tranny lags when the throttle is stabbed. You can count it off; one-one thousand, two-one...here we go Are they all like this? Maybe I need a manual?

My 04.5 w/ grounding wires and valve body shifts fast and hard (I'd estimate under a 1/4 second). It is possible to reduce the lag... A full 2 second delay sounds like there might be a problem. Check tranny fluid when the car is hot and running as per FSM.

Get a manual if you like, if not just get a 5AT, I got use to that 1 second lag, you'll get use to it and know when to shift so the tranny shift rights on the dot, its actually pretty fun But now I got the valve body upgrade so if shifts harder, weee fun!

thanks.

So I take it this lag is normal?

Nice hit once it decides to respond!

The lag is normal. Some of the earlier 5ATs were helped by a re-flash of the TCU. A good grounding kit seems to help many people as well. A valve body kit can also make a noticeable difference.

I actually find the engine lag on the VQ when you first floor it more bothersome, and I've felt it on the 6MT as well.

The lag is normal, and even a valve body upgrade won't get you faster shifts from when you hit the stick to when the car actually shifts, if that makes sense. Once the car actually shifts, it will be much quicker with a valve body upgrade, but for the actual shift to take place it will remain the same, at least mine did.

Interesting.

I set out last year to get a G35 for my wife. We stopped by the Nisssan dealer in town before driving 75 miles to the closest Infinity lot. She fell in love with the 3.5 CVT Altima and I never got to drive a G until Sunday. I love the handling difference but the lag came as a shock after piloting her CVT.

Even though I think the 5 at is a stunner, I may have to keep looking for an equally fine 6mt.

I think you must have a problem within the vb as mine shifts ultra fast in the 1-2,2-3 and the 3-4 gears.Oh i do have a forged performance vb.

I'm not saying it doesn't shift fast, because it does. But there always will be lag from when you tell the car to shift from when the actual shift occurs, I'm guessing that has something to do with the electronics of the car, as the valve body will just make actual shifts quicker.
