tranny problem or clutch?

hey i have this problem only when im going fast. well when im in high rpm in 4th gear and try to shift it to 5th gear it wont let me, i have to slow down and then it will go into 5th. have you guys ever had that problem before. when im going regular speeds its perfectly fine. this problem has happenend about 6 times already. im about the take it in to the stealership but dont know if they will cover it. so let me know if you guys have ever had that problem or know what it might be.

sounds like it might be your syncros, that will call for a new tranny

Do you have any mods...such as a short shifter? maybe a transmission and rear diff fluid change will help.

i have the same problem, syncros are going bad, get it fixed before you hit 60k, maybe the stealership will cover it.

I have had the same problem ever since I bought mine (04 ) but with getting it into 3rd gear. The dealer would never fix it. I tried everything and now have 36.000 miles on it and have given up. You basically have to always rev match when shifting gears with this car. Perhaps that is the only thing I never liked about the G. Also, when rolling at 10 miles on 2nd gear, I have to rev the engine if I want to put it on 1st and launch the rocket. It would have the hardest time getting into 1st otherwise.
In a way,I feel faster when driving the AT on the G when I had loaners. I know you have to be very good driving stick for the G but I have driven a lot of fine cars for 20 years now,all manual and no problems.

well i have a short shifter. also my clutch feels a little harder than other 04 n 03 g's cause my two friends clutches are softer than mine and mine has a harder kick than their's does, and i also asked the previous owner of my car and said its still a stock clutch. well im gonna take it in the stealership. my car only has 48000 miles. what do you guys think.

dealer will blame the short shifter as of cause. so u might have to put the stocky back on first then take it to the dealer.

like said earlier, just take anything off that is aftermarket and put stock back on so teh dealer cant make an argument not to fix under warranty, even though in most states its the dealers burden to prove the aftermarket part did the dmg
