03 Tranny problem?

Newbie G owner! So Cal

Just recently purchased a pristine 03 5AT with tiptronic however, when you
give the accelerator a quick push the tach revs high and the speedometer moves really slow almost not at all at low speeds.

Between 0-20 the speedometer takes forever to creep up, when you goose the vehicle to pass in traffic the tach then revs to about 5-6 grand then it kicks in but again the speedometer creeps very slowly between 40-60.

Just got it out of the shop the mechanic said it threw code (PO615) and told me it was a Shift Sensor that went bad. He claimed to have fixed that problem by replacing the sensor he claimed to have dropped the pan said the tranny looked fine no metal, clean oil not burnt. He also said he reset the ECU for me but the vehicle still has hesitation when trying to over take other vehicles in traffic, the transmission is quite loud on the interior of the car over the regular growl. When in tip-tronic mode it has some kick back between 3rd and fourth gear like a small hesitation then pushes thru.

I'm baffled since I don't know the car that well yet having only had it for 2 weeks. I feel like the car has a transmission problem but also feel like it's not getting a good fuel connection? I don't want to get rid of the car but I'm not rich and I don't want some shop or stealership ripping me off cause I'm a girl.

HELP!!!DOMO

Pick one problem to fix first. If it's the tranny, go to a reputable specialized tranny shop and get their take on it. It sounds like your clutches are slipping and need to be replaced. That could cost between $2-3000, but get them to check it out. They can probably tell you from just a short ride.

It's all connected it's not two seperate problems they all coincide, the shop it was at was a Transmission Specialist hence his changing out the Shift Sensor Relay. He dropped the pan inspected the parts and said everything appeared fine, but the car seems to have no power when needed and the speedometer is really sluggish when accelerating which leads me to question if it's a fuel related issue or transmission issue?

Put the car into 1st in manumatic. When you feel the car is in gear (at a full stop), step on it. If it's sluggish, it is engine related. If the engine winds up but you don't get the acceleration you should, it's transmission related. Then go from there.
