Automatic into a 6MT

hey all, the motor in my G35 blew, so I finally got a new motor, after getting it installed, the VDC and slip light stay on, in taking it back to the installer, he said that it is b/c the motor came out of an automatic whereas my car is a 6MT. To your knowledge is there a problem installing an Automatic motor into a 6MT, if pilot bearings and etc have been installed? Any help would be appreciated, as I am starting to question my installers work...

AFAIK, there is no problem in doing so. The motors are the same since you had a pre-05 6MT.

I believe the motor from an auto and a manual in the year of your car is exactly the same. I could be wrong though, but I would take it to a VQ specialized shop so they can take a look at it if the dealer doesn't know the problem.

find an open parking lot. drive straight for about 50ft maybe arnd 15mph most. stop. then go in reverse straight for the same , stop ,put in park, turn it off, turn it back on. maybe the steeing angle sensor needs to get reset.. sumtimes after battery disconnection you haev to do this. if it doesnt work the 1st time try it a few more times.jus make sure u dont turn the wheel ur basically telling the Gsensor wat straight is supposed to feel like.

granted this might not b your problem but good luck.

Did NismoG35S's advice help? I am in the same exact position you are in. Car blew up on turbo and I just swapped the engine. About to get my car back to see if it does work. I don't want to pay $120 for a diagnostic from Infiniti. =/

Anyone else can chime in?

Yes they are right it is the steering sensor. When i installed my greddy turbo kit i forgot to mark the steering shaft and didnt get it installed straight so the vdc and slip lights stayed on.I had to get the shaft lined up right and then tried to do the battery disconect trick which didnt work.

What was strange is even after i got the shaft lined up if i didnt turn the wheel all the way to the right before moving the abs would go nuts.I eventually had to get the sensor replaced to a tune of $1100 bucks.

First and foremost, thanks to everyone for you help, turns out it was a problem with the flywheel, which they fixed for free. The light did stay on, which I did the steering trick, and it is gone, thanks guys.

You can always go to Autozone (or any place similar) and get a free diagnostic, if anything, it will give you a starting point.
