How smooth should it be?

I bought an 05 6mt used with only 26k miles on it. I test drove another one prior to purchasing this one and test drove the one I bought of course and I was curious as to how smooth the gates and shifting should be. I don't have a basis to draw any conclusions. I was thinking I should just take it to the dealer and let them drive it and let them tell me. Are there any common problems I should look for when shifting and the gates. To me, it's almost perfect, I drove a manual 98' F150 prior to this car, but I have no idea how the previous owner drove it and if he even knew how to drive it. Thanks for the input guys.

The only problem I have is "notchiness" when it's cold. Once the tranie warms up, it goes away.

In most of my shifting, I get some resistance going into second gear, but the others seem to be just fine.
