I have an aftermarket shift **** - the lock is still there.

The car will not go into "park" if you are going over a certain speed. I suspect you were going too fast or you would have described the major "clunk" into park as you skidded to a full stop. If that did not happen, the car saved your a$$. You have to be going pretty slow for it to actually engage into park.

Over a certain speed, the tranny will just stay in neutral, regardless if u went to Reverse or Park.

Do you have an idea of the speed range?

I second that.

As I have mentioned that I have done it and the P did not even engage. Car acted as it was in the N and produced no noise what so ever.

Did the car do anything at all when you did that? I did that with a rental car once out of curiosity and it didn't do anything at all. Car kept rolling at current speed but wouldn't let me accelerate like that. Slipped it right back in to drive and kept going. If there is really a safety thing on there for people like....well, you...then you'll be fine. If it did anything else you may want to get it looked at. I haven't seen it on this car, but I hear the pin that locks the tranny in place while in park is pretty small; there's no doubt that will be damaged if this actually engaged when you, somehow, did this. Good luck man. Keep us posted.

i was wondering the same thing .. i had to go thru the gears to think how youd get that far up ... but i read the thread some more.

hitting park at low speeds isnt too bad, isnt serious enough to get it checked out. unless you were pushin it. i would consider it..

ive done the d to n once because i forgot i changed from -tronic back to drive at a light. i wasnt goin real fast tho.

Havnt noticed anything since, but boy, i havnt been so pissed. my arm honestly couldnt stop beating the living **** out of him. It was the wierdest thing ever. i was just enragged and couldnt stop hitting him lol He was covered in bruises after that incident.

Yeah, that result was disappointing.

D - N isn't a bad thing...D - P is...bad, prob wouldn't let your friend make a habit of that.
