As far as stalling the car, that's just something that will become second nature to you. I think that has only happened to me once in the last 15 months.
If something hits your car hard enough to move it, I'd be worried about the car itself, not just the tranny. Besides, if a car hits a parked car with only the E-Brake on, what guarantee do you have that the force of impact won't send your car flying in to another direction?

i always leave my car in gear, i'm always paranoid that if i dont have it in gear the ebrake will fail and my car rolling. when i had my rsx type S i woke up in the morning and saw my car rolled to my neighbor's yard.

Having your ebrake + your car in gear willl not guarantee that your car wont move when you get hit by a moving vehicle.. car in gear and w e-brake just makes sure your car doesnt move as much so you can have bigger impact when you do get hit by a moving object. What that guarantees is more damage in the rear or front depending on where you get hit and it can still send your car in any direction depending on how hard your hit.. but then you could also get hit and fly into the wall infront of you.. ebrake is less likely to fail yet when in gear and ebrake your more likely to get crushed worse.

No one has anything to lose by making it a habit to leave your car in gear. It should always be left in gear.
And like I said before, if someone hits a parked car hard enough to make it move, having the car in gear is not going to make a significant impact in making the situation any worse than it is (but atleast you have that second brake to rely on).
When automatics are left on P along with the e-brake, that's almost the same as what we do when we leave our cars in gear + handbrake.

well to me it depends where im parking...if im on a downhill i always up it in reverse and vice versa but if i was on even road ill leave it in neutral + E-brake when i was driving stick back in the days
i agree with Skaterbasist 100%, funny thing is when my mom taught me how to drive mt she told me to leave it in gear+ e-brake which i do but she never does, everytime she drives the G she just puts the e-brake lol
If you read my other posts I mentioned it was better to have a second brake than just to rely on one. That was my entire point.

Im not arguing the point that its better to have the ebrake + car in gear... i just said arguing that "when you get hit you wont fly in another directions" is a pointless example bc when you get hit your hit either way.. and if hit hard enough your flying no matter if your in gear or not. Thats all I was trying to say.. I can agree that you should use both as a safety thing but personally I don't do it on a daily basis in my 6MT.... never had a issue within the 4 years ive driven my 350z or G 6mt.
