Bad launch, burned clutch...smell?
So I wont make excuses and say someone else was driving my car. Just had a bad launch and gave my clutch a pretty good burn. This is THE first time i have screwed this up on my G. Had a few bad launches in my MR2 Turbo but those damn things are as stout as they come. Anyways my question is how long should the smell last.
It smelled BAD that night, and not so much the next day but you could still pick it up every now and then. Even this morning which makes it day 3 I can still pick up traces if I'm sticking my head in the hood. I have babied it since and dont even take it up past 4K. If I can still pick up traces of it should I take it in. Clutch still engages and hold gear just fine.

The smell you reference is normal and it originates from excessive heat seen when a clutch is slipped. Having the smell linger for a few days isn't unusual as you effectuvely glazed the disc surface. Contine to drive it as normal and you should be ok. Keep an eye out for any changes in engagement point as this can evidence excessive wear and the need for a new clutch. There is no real need to stress out about this yet...but remember that the more you slip a clutch the faster it will wear. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
