So it's winter and i'm having a consistant issue with my trans.

when the temp is below 40 degrees and the car is cold (first thing in the morning) I start it up, let it run till the RPMs get to normal (~1k) and drive off. I can shift from first to second no problem doesn't matter if it's 2k or 4k rpm or 5-25mph, it shifts like butter. I then go up to 3rd. Eventually i'll hit a couple of stop signs and i go to throw it into 2nd again...except i can't. The tranny won't let me get into second until i get below 7mph. That is to say i can throw the shifter left, but i can't move it down into 2nd. It feels almost exactly like when i try to go into 1st from a roll. it waits until you get below a certain mph, then a "gate" opens up and the shifter slides right into gear.

This only happens when it's cold out, and only for the first 10 min of driving (after the gearbox warms up a bit i guess). Also, it only happens when going backwards (3-6 down to 2nd), from 1 to 2 there's no problem. Obviously when i take it to the dealer they say they can't find anything.

Anyone seen this before and know what i should say to explain this to the dealer?
