New Shift ****

I have a quick question hopefully someone can shed some light on. I have a 2004 6MT coupe and am interested in swapping out the shift **** for a new one. I have tried to take the old one off but am having trouble with it. I am not sure if its just on really tight or if there is a trick to it. If anyone has an idea I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I noticed the original **** has a silver ring at the base with makes the boot connect to the **** very cleanly. If anyone has any ideas on how to duplicate that clean look with an aftermarket **** that would be great. The last thing I want to do is have to use a twist tie to keep the boot on the shifter shaft.

There's one important step that DIY leaves out. Look here:

Also, if your using a Nismo ****, there's a bathroom toilet washer that's sold at Home Depot that you use as a finisher. I've attached a picture of my shifter

Re: New Shift ****

its really tight, use a rag and some channel lock pliers on the actual square-ish bottom part of the **** and use a set of vise-grips on actual shaft under the shifter boot and just grip it a rip it. if u use a rag you shouldn't damage the factory shift **** at all. its really tight but it will just unscrew
