2005 GCoupe MT-Gear Lube

Ok guys, this should be such an easy question but i cannot seem to get an easy answer. I have a 2005 G35 Coupe, MT and I was going to do a drain and refill on the manual tranny and the diff but I was unsure as how much gear lube to buy and which brand. I called the dealer and he told me 17 quarts. After I got up off the floor I reminded him that it's a standard-not automatic and he still insist it needs 17 quarts. Of course I hung out and I went to Advanced Auto Parts and they said manual tranny holds 3.1 quarts. They did not have much selection of gear lube so I drove across street to Oreilly and figured, what the hell, while i'm here i'll go ahead and verify the amount needed. They told me I need 6 quarts. So, i've heard 17 quarts from dealer, 3.1 from Advanced and 6 from OReilly. Does anyone know how many quarts of gear lube I need to do a drain and refill on my 2005 Coupe 6spd MT. I also plan on doing the diff. Oh and I was really looking at putting Amsoil-what do yall think?

The diff should take less than the tranny, but I would buy 6 quarts just in case and return the unused ones. Just pour it in the fill hole until the fluid start flowing out then you'll know how much it take. Hope this helps.

Manual Transmission, ..........6.1 pints
Differential, Rear..........3.0 pints

So get 4 qts of this for your trans: https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx

And 2 qts of this for your diff: https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/svg.aspx

I had already decided on the Amsoil synthetic for the tranny- thanks for supporting that- but why switch to the heavy duty for the diff? Think it will make that much difference?

One last question, when draining the tranny fluid, the capacity is 3.1 quarts, will all of the old fluid drain out or will some be left in there?
