2006 Coupe base has 3.3 or 3.5 FD??

I always assumed it had 3.3 until I checked out infinitihelp.com

while browsing through the years and checking out the changes between them I noticed in 2006 it says they use 3.5 in both AT and MT... anyone know this to be true?

2003-5 = 3.3
http://www.infinitihelp.com/models/2...ifications.htm

2006-7 = 3.5
http://www.infinitihelp.com/models/2...ifications.htm

but also looking on the internet at other reviews they showed 3.3...

can someone definitively answer this for me so I don't have to tear apart my pumpkin and count the teeth?

He's talking about the final drive ratio. Not the engine. And I also thought the AT up until the HR motor had a 3.3 final drive. Would have to check the FSM for 06 to be certain.

so does the 05 5AT coupe still have the 3.36 gears? was this changed in 06 to the 3.538?

according to infinitihelp.com they changed to 3.5 in 06, 05 still had 3.3

after verifying the 06 in the service manuals I believe the site is credible.

^can you suggest another setup for decent performance and still maintain some MPG?

the only ones I could find for my car are Nismo's 3.917's for $1,300 or the Nissan Frontier's 4.083's for $470.

does this involve re-build of the entire pumpkin?

Gears aren't gonna kill your top end power, just the top end SPEED. Gas mileage will be affected though.

The G35X has 3.538 gears for both differentials.

I've never heard that 2006 5ATs used the 3.5 gears. I thought all 5AT's had the 3.3.

these are the 4.08 gears from the Frontier

^ when you talk about top end speed what range are we talking? I only drive on the beltways around Balt. and DC. I am not looking to break and speed limits, but would like to have more power to escape crazed drivers. this is why I thought the 4.08's would be a good upgrade.

if I were to swap the gears would I also need to rebuild entire pumpkin? just want to know if this is a cost effective mod.
