Clutch sticking in 06 G35

I have an 06 G35 with 65k miles on it. I have been noticing that after being in stop and go traffic for a constant 20 minutes the clutch peddle will start to stick half way up. I have to put my foot around the back side of the clutch to push it the rest of the way. The funny thing is, the clutch itself seems fine. It engages and disengages in about the same spot cold or hot. I have put it into 5th gear going 20 miles an hour and there is no sign of slipping. I am at a loss as to why the peddle is doing this. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

It only happens to me when my AC is on, on a stop and go traffic. It really sucks, thats why I don't use my AC anymore.

I don't know if our clutches are hydraulic or not, but in my '87 turbo Z the clutch went to the floor one day and stuck there. I had to tow it.

How many miles are on your G? I would first bleed the clutch lines and if that doesn't work it will be your master or slave cylinder.

I would have thought that too. The symptom isn't consistent enough to make me think it is a MC or hydraulic line issue. Car has 65k on it

It's easy to flush the system, so might as well give it a try?

Mine was doing that. The dealer replaced the clutch master AND slave cylinder. Hasn't happened since.

Do a search first OP, there are countless threads about this SAME topic. Go change your slave cylinder and master cylinder. DONE.

Same EXACT thing was happening to me a long time ago. At first it took about an hour of driving for the sticking to occur. Then, progressively, it got down to about 15 minutes. It would only happen in city traffic too. The solution is simple...WD40 on the clutch pedal assembly. I tried grease at first, but that only lasted about a week. Then I used WD40 and it's been trouble-free for about a year and a half.

Don't jump through all the hoops mentioned by these other guys just yet. Try this simple fix first. What's the worst that could happen? Besides, I'm right

So explain to me exactly how the wd40 will work for him, what part on the clutch pedal assembly should he grease up? I don't see how that'll solve the clutch pedal sticking.

+ 1

when clutch is sticking to floor 99.9% its eighter low on fluid or need new clutch master cyl. simple...not WD40

Once again, I had the same EXACT problem over a year and a half ago! I took a look at the clutch pedal and gave every joint (even the push rod) a shot of WD40. The problem has not returned.

Sometimes it's easy to mistake a question for an implication over message boards. I want to make sure- Are you guys suggesting that I never had a problem with my clutch pedal sticking half way? Or that I'm imagining that the problem is now fixed?

The car is out of warranty. Changing the master and slave cylinder will be $1000 plus job. The car needs tires and brakes right now too. So we are up to over $2500. Seems to be a good down payment on a 2010 G37 6Mt. Hmmm decisions!

I agree with you in that a majority of people here are quick to get something replace since most don't know how to pick up a wrench and do it themselves. They're quick to agree in everything the dealership or mechanic has to say.

It sure wouldn't hurt to try the Wd40 thing if it the sticking is indeed at the pedals. In my case, it turned out to be the hydraulic clutch fluid. I surely didn't replace any slave or master cylinders which would've been the most expensive and last option I would've tried.

I did this and the clutch hasn't been sticking since...
