Differential Swap 6mt

I gues my main question is this I have a 2003.5 6mt coupe with the brembo brakes and 18" wheels, some people say my car did not come with a factory lsd installed, I got a sweet deal on a 350Z 07 OEM LSD , would it fit ? what would be the final drive of it?

I'm pretty sure your car has an LSD. I have it on my 03 6mt. If you still have the dealer sticker it'll say VLSD on it. The FD on the 07 Z is the same as our cars, but if you got one from the newer G35 6mt then you'd have 3.7FD.

I would say it's not worth it to change yours out, unless if anyone can comment if the stock LSD are different from year to year. I upgraded to the Quaife + 4.08 and it was a good upgrade over stock.

Check for vlsd but jacking up the rear, putting transmission in neutral, e-brake off...and rotate the back left tire. If both rear tires spin the same way then you have VLSD.

I think the 07 Z has the 3.7 FD...its the HR motor.

where did you find that? I don't think you need to change since yours is most likely 3.5 with VLSD.

03.5 sedan is the first run of the 6MT. None of the US cars came with the VLSD. Closed case file.

HR motors have the 3.7....

2007+ 350Z and G35 Sedan/G37

2007 G35 coupe had the 3.5 still.

Are you talking about the sedan only cause the OP has a coupe and certain versions do come with VLSD.

None of the 350z come with 3.7 even the HR motor. Only the HR motor on the G35S has it. It has been discussed a lot why Nissan didn't want to put the more aggressive in their 350z.

Wow this thread is misleading in a few posts other posts are exellent. OP if you have 18" wheels and Brembos 98% chance you have a VSLD and the gear ratio on your 03 with a 6mt is 3.5. If you spin your tires do both tires spin or just one tire VLSD will spin both open will be a one tire fire or do as tollbooth said.

Levanta el carro y gira las gomas...si ambas giran en la misma direccion pues tienes el VLSD.

Saludos...estoy en Carrito.net...lol.

According to some posts on here and these three web sites the VLSD was introduced on 2005, all other differential are conventional

http://www.infinitihelp.com/models/2...ifications.htm

ANd I just cross reference some differentials and yes it is true the 2007 g35 and 2008 g37 has the 3.7 lsd, now my question will be this , would it fit? and also I saw there are some plugs attached to it (maybe VDC stuff) will that work too?

Saludos desde Aguada al de Puerto Rico.

What is a conventional LSD, do you mean no-LSD open differential?

All of the G35 coupe with factory equipped LSD are VLSD. There is no difference between the LSD type from year to year, none of them are mechanical ones. If you check the parts or FSM you will notice that they are the same part number.

The one you got from the 07 350z (i'm assuming 6mt) will fit but then it'll be exactly the same as what you have on your car, but just newer. If it turns out to be from 5AT car then you'll have a 3.3FD.

maybe the 350Z doesn't have the 3.7 FD but the 370Z, g37, and 2007 G35 all should
