Infiniti will void your warranty if you use anything other
than the Jmatic in the G35 automatic transmission.
Beware!
03 5AT Sedan, sunroof, splashguards, HKS muffler,
14 wire Grounding kit, Z Duct, Stillen HF/AB
Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals,
Stillen sway bars H/H

Re: Auto Transmission Fluid
From what I understand, no other brand will match the uniqueness of Nissan's J-brand fluid. Apparantly nothing else is as good for our trannies.
Couple those 2 things with knowing that every tranny failure is investigated by Nissan techs for tampering, and you can see that it's just not worth changing out the fluid.
I recommend none.

Re: Auto Transmission Fluid
I did a lot of research into this because I considered changing to synthetic fluid.
I talked to transmission experts, including Level 10 in NJ and Mobil's technical support people. Mobil said that Nissan usually doesn't publish specifications for their fluid. As a result, Mobil can't match specs they don't have.
Level 10, a world authority on Nissan transmissions, uses only Nissan fluid.
Using other fluids will void the warranty on the transmission.
Bottom line, use only Nissand fluid per the owners manual.

Re: Auto Transmission Fluid
The 5AT has a new design dual lockup clutch and is extremely precise about just the right stick slip characteristics of the ATF. Also it is a full synthetic in the same sense as Mobil 1 ATF is synthetic [no natural base oil].
Toyota and Honda have similar premium ATF just the characteristics are slightly different.
Like any ATF it should be changed every 30,000 miles if you expect to own the car beyond 70,000 miles.
Sure the fluild may function to 100k but what damage is done by the long interval.
Considering the $4500 replacement cost a few hundred every 2 years is very good insurance.

Thx for the infos, the reason i ask is because my car is in the shop due to a little accident and my transmission hose got torn. Guess ill stick with stock ATF.

Re: Auto Transmission Fluid
If you are concerned about your tranny fluid, add an auxilliary transmission oil cooler. For a total investment of about $100, you will have some additional tranny insurance. Reducing oil temperature cannot but help the life of the fluid and the transmission.

Re: Auto Transmission Fluid
The complications I ran into were that it didn't fit! I just found out yesterday.
I had asked my mechanic for acceptable dimensions and he did his best looking through the grill and from the top. Unfortunately, some unforgiving obstructions, like the cylinder on the passener side on the front side of the radiator, prohibited the use of this size cooler. There are also some potential issues with the bolts that hold the horns on, but I think that the brackets can be gently bent towards the front of the car. Also, keep in mind that this is a sedan.
When I found out, I tried to edit my post to remove the model number, but, alas, the time had elapsed. So forget that model number.
I'm now in the process of getting a smaller size cooler.
