G37x Manual Conversion

All I want out of life is an AWD G with a manual transmission. Since Infiniti appears hell bent on not releasing one I am hoping that it is possible to purchase an AWD manual Nissan transmission swap it out.

Trouble is I have not worked with transmissions much before and am not even sure where to begin. Has anyone done this before or looked into it? Is the GT-R transmission possibly compatible? Why doesn't Infiniti just release this option considering how many people desire it?

I don't know of an AWD MT that Nissan makes for the VQ37. The GTR R35 transmission wont fit at all and it's not made to bolt to an engine. Even if you swap some kind of MT in the ECU wont work with it.

Nissan doesn't make one because people buy AWD for snow and automatics do better in the snow than MTs.

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I expected to hear.

I have seen quite a few proposed reasons as to why there are no manual Xs. But yours seems very much like a matter of opinion. I have lived in Montana most of my life, and it seems like the majority of rigs that are designed for snow are manuals, big *** trucks, WRXs, Evos, and plenty of others. Automatic transmissions allow the computer more control of the car; and in situations where the computer is smarter than the driver, that is a good thing. But a skilled driver...

A few days ago in snowed a little here and the snow was a fine powder. There were 18 wheelers that couldn't drive on an 18 degree incline with less than 2 inches of snow. They couldn't get any traction with a manual that jerked the truck when the clutch got engaged.

There is the BMW 535ix that comes with a 6speed and it's already turbocharged. It's a competitor to the G37x.
