My review the 3.5 VLSD swap into a 5AT
#37
from Performance Nissan (same as mynismo.com)...
Athon brings up a good point about differential... I got Quaife ATB at the same time - I would suggest having a decent lsd when you do this... or at least OEM vlsd (which makes the 3.5 swap a decent option)... I think someone swapped 3.7 from an 07+ sedan... not positive - but that's what I would try (if you cant find new).

I said ABOVE 3.5 damn it. I think everyone except for like one lucky SOB with a 2004.5 model year that went above a 3.5 swap lost cruise control.

Secondly, I don't think it was clear that you were referring to only some years when you said "above 3.5 loses cc".
And third, I'm not sure how many others have even used 3.7 on an 03-04 (are you certain cc doesn't work with 3.7 on all pre 04.5?)

OCG35 Are you being serious?
I'm pretty certain a rational person would read my post followed by Tollboothwilley and GT-ER simply misinterpretted my post as meaning "3.5 and higher loses CC"
For either individual to say otherwise would go against the common advice of this forum regarding differentials. And if either intended to go against this common advice, I'm sure they would have cited your car as the counterpoint. And then as a responsible member of the g35 community they would have mentioned it was the only one that it worked on so people don't try to swap a 3.7 in their 2006 or 2007 and expect CC to work.
Nonetheless, in my follow-up I did mention your case, unprovoked might I add, to avoid being corrected based on an exception to a well accepted rule.
Most importantly, however, look at the context of my highly technical 2-line post and you'll realize it did not merit putting an asterisk and a disclaimer: "man good thing cruise control doesn't work after going above 3.5 or i'd be a lot poorer. No one ever tell me if they get a fix for that. Thx! " A post of this nature was not written intended for the high level of scrutiny you subjected it to.
In conclusion, if any mods are reading this, I request my name to be changed to "TheBusDriver" because I just took you to school.

Did you see this thread about CC failure in the 3.7 differential swap https://g35driver.com/forums/drivetr...tial-swap.html . This wasn't a straight up FD installed into a 6MT pumpkin then swapped into a 5AT but i was hoping it would work.
Syco (the guy in above thread) clarified CC doesn't work in his post in your "rpms at 80mph thread". It fails for him but around 60mph, not 80mph.
FYI you had listed in your thread that 05-06 5AT are running a 3.5 FD but it is a 3.3 FD stock (i have an 06AT coupe with sports package)
I could find more through some searches but it's getting late.
I know my350z has some threads on it with possibly more detail...that's where i get most of my info b/c they have a lot more activity.

My CC worked for about 3 days after the pumpkin swap. Pumpkin from a 2007 G35 S AT 3.7 FD.
However when my CC was working I had to drive with VDC OFF or it'll just slip slip slip and no go.
When the CC finally stopped working, the slip issue was gone. It's been awhile since I've tried using CC.
I will take a drive today and try CC again.
