Might as well replace it unless you know it's fresh at this point. Remove fill plug first, then drain plug, just in case. I use the Mobil 1 75w-90 and like it. I highly recommend you get the pump that fits on top of those bottles... got mine at napa. Lots of pumping but makes it so much easier than any other way I can think of. 2 bottles (quarts) is about right if I remember correctly.

My bad! You wrote trans but I've was thinking rear diff all along. Yep OEM stuff is best in the trans and non-oem in the rear diff. I've read TONS on the fluids redline, amsoil, etc. etc.. and after all of it decided OEM was the best choice in a 6MT for the trans... still get the pump and hose unless you already have something.

I switched to Mobil1 75w90 and I'm happy with it. Some like Amsoil or Redline or Royal Purule but if you read enough posts about it you'll find people that don't like those too. For the cost and easy access to it, the Mobil1 works great for me... and I drive pretty hard.
Yeah, drain plug on bottom and fill plug higher up about 2/3 way up. Same way as doing the trans. I did both trans and rear diff at the same time since it's so similar and pretty easy with the pump and tube. just checked the tube... it is 5/16" and I've got maybe 14" sticking off the pump.. it worked well.
