Sorry for the dumb question, but: Can a 350Z RE5RO5A directly swap into a G35?
Hey guys,
I am looking at some transmission stuff. It might be time to replace my original auto.
Can the 350Z transmission directly bolt onto a G35 sedan?
I found a company that sells rebuilt 350Z RE5RO5A's for a decent price, but they do not offer the service for G35s. Can I buy the 350z part and use it on my car? I figure it's possible because so many parts are interchangeable, but is there any difference between a G35 coupe, 350Z, and G35 sedan RE5RO5A?
Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

Hmmm, I hope not! Anyone know what's different between coupe/sedan transmissions?

You've got an early 03 car, the TCM is going to be different therefore the valvebody may be different. The 04.5 trannies were different (TCM in the valvebody) and the 05/06 trannies were different too (TCM in valvebody, rev match downshift).
If it were me, I'd probably bend over and let Nissan/Infiniti rebuild the one you have rather than go through all the headaches of possibly trying to find out what works and what doesn't. The only people I'd be comfortable with working on these 5ATs is a Nissan transmission specialist.

trans swop
The RE4RO5a trans have many different configurations, computer, gear ratios, colum or floor shift. There is a tag on the back tail housing that gives this the information on its configuration.
Call me if you need a break down on what will enterchange.

The trans will swap but you need to be careful to make sure that you get the correct one to swap into your car. 2003-2004 should swap no problem. You will need to reflash the EPROM on the valve body though or it will not mate up properly with the TCM.
2004.5+ will not work - different valvebody and TCM.

Is that when they switched from external to internal TCU?
