What is this hole above rear diff?

This is not my car. Had my car up on a lift today and I didn't take a picture of this...Stupid, I know.

That hole that is circled in red...what is that? I was changing my fluids and I noticed that there was some oil or lube or whatever that had leaked from there. Should I be worried about this?

Assuming fluid is not supposed to leak out of that? Thanks for the response.

The oem is a liquid filled, when it is leaking that means on of the chambers has ruptured.

Thanks everyone. From this information I was able to do a better search. I'll take it to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty.

Also, the car makes the "ticking" or "clicking" noise when ever I start out in first gear..and sometimes into second and third. Been told that this is a common problem with the G and that the axle needs to be cleaned, lubed, and re-torqued. Could this blown bushing thing be the cause of the noise?

Nissan dealership said the bushing was in perfect working order, so I am assuming that whoever had the car before me had it fixed - bc that was definitely silicone that was all over. Charging me almost 400 bucks to clean and lube the axles. Does that sound about right?

^^Might want to get a second opinion, if it was leaking chances are it's probably gone.

Good advice. I was trying to save money by going to the local Nissan dealer instead of the Infiniti dealer - which I am sure is automatically going to charge more money for everything.

^^Not always the case, but labor rates do vary from dealer to dealer. NISSAN dealers can service INFINITI vehicles, but they will tell you that they can't do anything for you on warranty claims since they're not authorized to do them only INFINITI dealers are (even though the parts numbers are the same). If your car is still under warranty you shouldn't have a problem, but don't quote me on that since EVERY dealer is different.

If you can turn a wrench the axle click is an easy fix. Buy a $6 tube of synthetic grease and a wire brush and your good to go. Should only take you 2 hours or less to do both sides. beats paying the dealer $400

I'm not very skilled with tools. I also have a bad habit of stripping and/or breaking items that I try to handle myself.
