Ah, that makes complete sense. So let's say after repeated abuse on the track, does the viscous fluid in the vlsd eventaully begin to shear/deteriorate permanently? Could it be replaced if needed? Doubt it would ever get to that point from the streets but just curios. Sorry for all the questions.

Again ... it's no different than the AT torque converter. The effects are largely non permanent over the short term, but will eventually deteriate permanently over the long haul. These oem viscous cores are sealed and non-servicable. The only thing that can be done is to replace with another core.
