Clutch noise increases in neutral when I take foot off pedal?

When I start the car up and it is idling and I take my foot of the clutch pedal, I hear an increased noise (not really a chatter, but just a increased loudness in noise!) Others hear it too, I can push, release, push release and constantly make this sound go up and down, up and down!

Is this normal...Any other car I have owned in the past has not done this or I have not heard it. I definitely know its clutch/flywheel related!

Sorry for the dumb question, I bought the car used 3 weeks ago and am still trying to make sure all is well.

It also seems to overcrank at starting, but I will post about this later as this is more random...

Thanks!

I have noticed the same thing. I even had my wife listen to it today before we took it out. She even heard the difference. I don't mind that as much as the clutch chatter you hear when going through the lower gears.

I am going to have my dealer look at the tranny in the next couple of weeks to see what they say.

i got a rattle in my clutch when i changed it to the jwt lightened flywheels and clutch combo. i had mine installed at the dealership and they said that the reason it rattles it because the lightened flywheel doesnt have enough weight to dampen the noise. i have heard that people who had theres installed by Jim Wolf himself had no problems, i dont know if it was because he used a different throw-out bearing or wut, but i would like to know how to solve the problem.

Its from your throw out bearing. I have had that damn noise since I bought the care and up untill a few weeks ago it was normal now its gottena little louder. I took it to 3 dealers all have told me its normal. I dont see why it should make that noise.

It's perfectly normal for the TO bearing to sound like this. Some are quieter than others. I put a new one in with my RPS clutch and flywheel and it has been a little quieter. Nothing to worry about.

i just noticed my car makes a noise when ideling. exactly like you described i can make it get louder and quiet by pressing the clutch. i can also hear it from outside the car. it sounds like it's coming from the front. and it is a quick but relatively quiet clunky sound. Should I even bother taking the car to the dealer?

Dealership is going to replace TO bearing on warranty. Gotta love it.

The increased "whirring" noise from the throw out bearing (a.k.a Release bearing) is normally heard with the cluth pedal IN. Whirring noises with the clutch out (and stoped in neutral) are the shaft bearings.
