auto tranny dip stick

I have been reading the threads on how difficult it is to check the eng oil, well I was successful in this endeavor however I couldn't find the transmit ion dip stick, My owners manual does not show it.

It is 'hidden' from U.S. cars. In other words the dealer has to check it. If I'm not mistaken, only our northern bretheren (Canada) were given the ability to check AT fluid levels. Check me out tho .... I only think I'm perfect.

it is a sealed unit, but the dip stick is behind the intake plenum, and it has to be unscrewed. take it to the dealer to have them check it - if you think you need to.

first take the engine cover off the 2 nuts, and two bolts, then you can see it behind the plenum.

on the 03's there isn't a dipstick you need a special tool from the kent more tool in the special tool cabinet. on the 04+ there is. i think thats what it was. and it has a 10mm bolt holding the tube down. that is so people don't add trans fluid. Infiniti's 5 speed rwd takes J matic fluid and you can not mix it. due to the torque converter creating extra heat from having the ability to partial lock up and total lock up. do not mix fluid only get J matic if you add, and you shouldn't be low on fluid to be honest with you, unless theres a leak. if there is a leak it will be by the cooler if there is, its the only place i have seen them break hope this helps you.
