Yes, Clutch and Flywheel questions/suggestions

Believe me, I've been following any information I can find around here on the following clutches and flywheels, but it's not as abundant as you would think and it's extremely scattered among various threads that are often dedicated to something entirely different. Just wanted to see if I could get some additional input on the following clutches and flywheels.

Clutches:

NISMO ($500-$600) - Haven't heard much about this one.
ACT ($500) - Seems to be thought of as one of the best, with nice pedal feel.
RPS ($600) - Haven't heard much, other than they're supposed to be good.
JWT ($475-$500) - Pretty good and a good price.

Flywheels:

NISMO ($500-$600) - A little noise and not too light. Not sure how this compares to the JWT's noise level.
UR ($600) - The least noise available, but maybe too light for me.
RPS ($450-$525) - Appears to be a nice flywheel, yet I haven't heard much about it around here and may be too light.
JWT ($450) - Not even considering given the noise level is reported to be higher than any of these other three.

There's only about a $300 difference between the cheapest and most expensive options listed above, so I'll say that price isn't a factor for me among these choices.

I'd also like the know if anyone is using the NISMO roller-bearing conversion (from pilot) that's $15 and/or the braided stainless-steel clutch line from SGP that runs $35? Both are cheap enough and offer benefits to be a no-brainer for me, but I'd love to hear feedback from anyone using them.

Likewise, any additional info. on the clutches/flywheels listed above would be greatly appreciated.

Good questions, also interested in any suggestions from those with experience, especially on the roller-bearing bit. Bump

Right on. I haven't seen anyone mention using the NISMO roller-bearing or SGP ss-braided clutch line. The clutch line, in addition to offering a consistent feel, is also said to allow room for additional pedal adjustment.

While RPS flywheel looks like a great option, I'm really considering the NISMO because it's not so extremely lightweight, so shouldn't kill off-the-line acceleration so bad. But I don't know how noisy it is.

I'm leaning toward the ACT clutch, but if I got the NISMO flywheel I'd likely swing to the NISMO clutch as well. Anyone know who makes the NISMO clutch or if it's just a heavy-duty Nissan part?

having driven both a ur and jwt fly with a jwt clutch, i wouldnt worry about it being too light. the feel is pretty much the same.

Yeh, I think the weight reduction is pretty close between those two. I think the NISMO is the only one that isn't nearly as light as the rest. I do wonder if the NISMO flywheel is lightened enough to make much of a difference.

I have the JWT combo and love it! It's not noisy at all. My stock setup was louder after 3K miles (later replaced due to shattered pressure plate at 11K). This is at idle.

Driving - Only time you hear the flywheel chatter is taking off from a dead stop you get very minor "cement mixer" noise. The only time people would notice it is if you come to an almost dead stop and start off in second gear. Then it's a little louder. Overall, I love it so far!

Great. Keep the comments rolling in please! While I don't need to replace it right now, I'd like to buy the parts while I have the cash. Of course, having a lightened flywheel sitting around isn't going to make waiting very easy.

anytime you are looking for stuff having to do more with performance, i would go to www.my350z.com and do searches over there. you should find lots of stuff over there.

i love ACT, but you have to have a strong left leg. i love clutches that are hard to push cause they "feel" like they work better. (this is just my opinion)

I've been doing some research for a clutch too! Not too much on this site. Anyway, looks like the JWT clutch and flywheel is what I went with. Should get it tomorrow. And for $725, that's a steal. Now, gonna order a SS clutch line too. Next is a short shifter. Stuck between B&M or Rogue. By the way, looks like if your not FI and either NA or with some bolt-ons, JWT is the way to go. Good daily drivability and good byte for road racing/autox. Here is some info about Nismo:
"FYI Guys...

Exedy is the OEM supplier to Nissan for their 350Z clutches AND the manufacture of the NISMO Clutch/Flywheel kits. In other words Exedy = NISMO.

Details on the Clutch...

Rated at 370HP
80% Increase in Torque Capacity over OEM
2259 Clamp Load (i.e. Pedal Pressure)
3-Puck Sprung Hub Design for Smooth Street Driving
Will work with the OE Flywheel - but the Exedy Flywheel is recommended"

There is also Spec clutches and clutchmasters and exedy...

so since, exedy is the supplier for nissan does that mean that exedy's stage 2 setup will be slightly better than the oem drivetrain or will I see a significant difference. My ideal use is for daily driving as well weekly road racing...but I have no intention for track use...at the same time, I prefer having a clutch that grabs as soon as u begin to release not at the very top...does that narrow the choices down now???
