i just made a custom kit today as well. i used a combination of grounding points from gordgee's, Sxcxex, and black betty's garage kits.... i tried to take the best of each kit.

i am trying to make the transmission ground, and i know its a short wire that goes from the back left of the plenum and down near the at dipstick, but does anyone know exactly where i connect it?
also i am going to try and make an ecu ground wire, once again tho, i don't know where to connect on the ecu...
i will prolly find out when i open it up i guess. if anyone knows these two grounding points and can describe them or post a pic, plz do!!

Do it like me and you won't need to measure anything....

i bought about 20 ft of the 8awg black cable from knukonceptz and it is a great cable. 99.9% oxygen free or whatever. i also bought 20 connectors and the total was only about 50 bucks shipped.
i went around on the forum for about 2 days gathering photos from the various grounding kit threads and looking at them and zooming in on areas to see all the points.

when i got the wire, i stripped one end of the cable about 3/4 inch and crimped the connector on there. i went to the engine bay and put the end with the connector on the first grounding point and just ran the wire how i wanted it to the other point, gave it a bit of slack and cut it. then i just stripped and crimped the other end right there standing over my engine bay. it was so easy. i just repeated that process until i had all the major points.

with the extra wire i have three more points in mind when i purchase my next G35. i'm looking at an 06 that my sis has hunted down for me.

Question
On ebay AP1AP2 is selling "Grounding Cables" for $12 + 8 for shipping. Are this cables lagit and has any one bought these. They look pretty good. I question the required lenght needed. AP1AP2 says that they are universal. Just wondering if anyone installed this brand?

I installed the tranny ground wire from a point on the passenger side back part of the engine to an open "hole" on the passenger side of the tranny. There was not a bolt there but I had one that was the right thread size from the air box intake system.

I did pretty much the same thing that "UR2EZ" did

I used 4 gauge battery cable with soldered copper ring lugs

i ran out of cable so I couldn’t run two of the cables yet but I don’t know if I am going to because i already notice a big difference in the car, the shift lag is virtually gone!

Because it looks cool...

How many mods have we done that just "look cool".

You are correct, this IS one of the biggest misconceptions in the automotive world. ONE extra ground wire is all that needed from the engine to the chassis. Round wire is NOT the best, flat braid is. I have Ham Radio equipment in all my cars and I know grounding every way from Sunday. In my last car I grounded the doors to the body (two places each), the back hatch to the body (two places), the hood in two places, the exhaust in three places, the body to the frame in six places, the engine to the battery/body/frame in three places. It didn't make a damn bit of difference the way the car drove or ran, but it DID make it "electrically" quiet for my HF radio.

Do you know how many bolts connect the tranny to the engine? I think they are plenty... just ground the engine to the chassis!

I did have my doubts about doing the grounding kit I didn’t think it would do anything

But after I installed it and pulled out of the drive way, the car went form first to second sooo smoothly and soooo much faster I was amazed.
Even my GF noticed a difference in the car, now that is saying something!

I would highly recommend doing this to your car especially if you have the “5AT” like I do.
