I would go download the fsm for your year and see if they identify the equivalent wires for shifting. The fans are available for download in the FAQ DIY forum as a sticky. Compare it to the newer model fsm. Good to get familiar with the fsm anyway...

I never understood why some cars were pull to upshift and push to downshift. I always felt like the way our cars are, push to upshift and pull to downshift seemed right.

 

Ever used a ratchet shifter?

Glad I stumbled across this. I was constantly shifting the wrong way. Very easy to do
