Whining/powering-up sound at low speeds

Is my G35 Coupe the only one that has a whining/power-up type sound when accelerating between 20-40 mph?

If not, what is the reason? I had a Sedan loaner that did not make the noise.

Thanks in advance.

Don't think so...

when driving with the a/c off, still get the sound. Sounds like it's coming from the engine. Really aggravating too. The only thing I don't like the car.

Are you talking about the electric car whinning type sound? I believe it's the tranny making the noise. It's normal, porsche has the same sound.

That's exactly what I'm hearing...

I actually thought that this must be normal because I thought I've heard it on my friends Porsche. Thought it may have been something unique to his car.
